Spike Lee is set to direct a new documentary about Colin Kaepernick that aims to capture the story of the former NFL quarterback and activist. Lee is back on HBO with another four-hour documentary about the aftermath of Katrina, If God Is Willing and da Creek Don’t Rise, playing in two parts on Monday and Tuesday nights. Spike Lee-protégé Randy Wilkins also directed a docuseries about Yankees legend Derek Jeter, entitled “The Captain,” which is airing every week now on ESPN. The film comes amid a flurry of sports documentaries about famed sports teams, led by ESPN’s The Last Dance, which chronicled the Bulls during the Jordan-era.
